Valentina pool design! – Slope no barrier to backyard haven

Seeking to make the most of an underutilised, sloping grassed area in their backyard, the owners of this Mosman Park property had a Valentina pool installed by Aqua Technics.
With a steep decline amounting to a 4m drop from the street, significant retaining work was required on most sides of the project, though the resulting pool area looks effortless.
Measuring 8m by 4m, with a depth ranging from 1m to 1.78m, the Valentina is ideal for lap swimming and family entertaining, Aqua Technics Marketing Manager Maree Voss told New Homes.
“The owners chose to install a pool as they felt their children were at a good age (five-to-nine years old) and they saw an opportunity to add value to their property and improve the overall aesthetic of the backyard,” she said.
“The owners selected this pool design as it included a large bench to one side, which they thought would be good for young kids and all ages to utilise.”
Illuminated by LED underwater lighting and fitted with high-performance, corrosion-resistant fibreglass, along with anti-microbial pool protection, the pool is designed to be easy care and to look great.
“The light pool colour was chosen to reflect a traditional white beach sand base and provide a clearer water finish,” Ms Voss said.
Sleek contemporary paving surrounds the pool, appearing as a seamless extension of the modern home and complementing the soft blue of the water.
“The grey limestone pavers from Ecostone perfectly complement the pool colour,” Ms Voss said.
“Blade fencing along one side of the pool, combined with contemporary soft landscaping, creates an overall high-end finish for the entire area.”
At one end of the pool is a stone-clad feature wall, adding some raw, natural texture, while bordering greenery introduces an additional splash of colour.
A floating bench fixed to the feature wall creates an inviting place to sit and watch the kids play.
Unobtrusive side entry steps provide easy access to the pool, with the extended underwater bench perfect for a brief rest from swimming.
