A Guide to Pool Colours

A Guide to Pool Colours

by altinternal / Monday, 14 September 2020 / Published in 2020, Aqua Technics

How important is pool colour?

Colour is always going to be an incredibly important part of designing a pool and fitting it to your backyard. Our customers often come to us with a pool colour in mind, and as a result, sometimes choose their colour before they choose their pool. Colour can be as strong of a factor as pool model when it comes to influencing the overall design. Some clients will want to design a pool that is the standout feature of their backyard, whereas others are seeking a tone that will seamlessly blend with its surroundings. Knowing that it’s a priority for our clients, we ensure that we have a diverse range of colours available and introduce new options when we see the opportunity to do so.

What pool colours would you recommend?

When it comes to pool colours the choice is really down to the pool’s surroundings. While blue’s are consistently the most popular choice, unique colour choices can also make for the most stunning results – it’s all about the setting and environment. Our recommendation is that any colour in our range can produce incredible outcomes, and this is only amplified by complementary factors such as paving, landscaping and location.

If you’re looking for something new, vibrant and refreshing, Argyle Blue is the latest addition to the Crystalite ColourGuard range. Its sparkling shimmer will make any size and style of pool impossible not to jump into on a hot summer’s day.

Argyle Blue is the perfect complement to the best-selling Twilight and Horizon finishes and is sure to become a popular choice among pool buyers.

What type of styles can different colours provide?

Choice of pool colour can be a way for the owner to give their pool a personality and dictate the look that the pool provides to their home.

A colour like Hamptons Blue can be used to give your pool a coastal resort feel with inviting light blue water.

Twilight, the most popular colour in our range, will make your pool the centrepiece of your home with its deep blue tone. Standing out amongst its surroundings, Twilight is reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea and is the ideal choice for larger pools. It will really pop when matched with lighter finishes.

Compare these blues with the Black Coral pool below, which gives off a mesmerizingly stormy look and has amazing reflective qualities, almost turning the pool into a piece of mirror art.

What do you need to consider when choosing a colour for your pool?

Trees, greenery, paving and the sky can all significantly impact the colour of your pool. Darker pools enhance the reflective qualities of the water while lighter colour pools look bigger in smaller areas as they blend in and create an illusion of space.

How do you know if a certain colour will work for your pool and backyard?

Seek advice from your pool installer, they have seen a lot of pools and will have the experience necessary to guide you through the selection process. During a site visit with your local pool company is a good opportunity to discuss design.

Which pool colours are the most popular?

While there is a large selection of pool finishes to choose from, including shades of black, grey, green and white, blue is still the most popular choice. Aqua Technics’ three most popular colours currently are;

Hamptons Blue

Horizon

Twilight

Marketing research shows that blue is the most popular colour worldwide and typically characterised alongside calmness, peacefulness and wisdom. As such, we’re attracted to the aquatic qualities of the colour, making it the most popular choice when it comes to installing pools in our homes. These particular colours are quintessential blues that are always in fashion. Suitable for any size and style of pool, they won’t date over time and sparkle brilliantly in the sun.

What advice would you give to people choosing a pool colour?

Follow your heart and pick a colour that you will enjoy looking at every day. It can either complement or contrast with your home and landscaping – the choice is yours!

What are some pool finishes people should think about applying?

For quality and durability, nothing compares to Pool ColourGuard®. Aqua Technics’ patented Pool ColourGuard® surface technology ensures that your pool colour will resist fading over time. It’s like sunscreen for your pool, protecting it from colour loss and weathering. Its ability to protect your pool from fading has been proven and tested over the last 30 years. As a result, every Crystalite ColourGuard pool includes a Lifetime Interior Surface Guarantee – a testament to its long-standing quality and strength.

The gelcoat surface of a fibreglass pool and Aqua Technics’ anti-microbial protection means that it’s much harder for algae or bacteria to form on your pool surfaces. This minimises the burden of ongoing maintenance on the owner and maintains a safe and hygienic swimming environment for you and your family.
